• 255 Answers SOURCE: Hi. Some Pfaff machines have something called an 'IDT' which looks rather like a small, black walking foot behind the pressure foot, to help feed the fabric evenly. Pfaff machines with this IDT need 'IDT' pressure feet. We own User manual for necchi sewing machine txt, PDF, DjVu. Necchi Sewing Machine 586 Silvia Maximatic Manual. Owners guide, instruction manual for your. (I can't find a listing of which machines have this and which don't, so you'll have to look at your machines or check your manuals.) If both machines have the IDT, then the feet are compatible. If neither has the IDT, then the feet are also compatible. Hope this helps! Happy Sewing, Robbie Posted on Mar 15, 2010. Not sure if you are having problems with the bobbin winder or threading the bobbin. This may help: To avoid awful thread nests under the fabric, be sure to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the top thread. Interestingly, the bobbin threading instructions (above) show the bobbin loading into the bobbin case so it turns COUNTER-clockwise. This is the opposite of instructions for most machines. You can probably try both, the clockwise or Counter-clockwise,and see if one works better than the other. Be sure to use fresh, good quality sewing machine oil or Tri-Flow Synthetic Oil on your machine. Open it up, while gently wiggling the handwheel, drop a couple drops of oil every place that metal rubs against metal. Avoid plastic or rubber parts! You may even find little round holes throughout that are oil ports. Be sure to get the area around the needlebar, presser foot lifter, feed dogs, the bobbin area, and all the dial and selector mechanisms. You can find manuals for your machine online (not free!). ![]() Aug 07, 2017|. As far as I am aware, Nelco hasn't been made for quite a few years--probably since sometime in the 1970's is my guess. I have an old Nelco sewing machine that is a tank of a machine and sews nearly anything I throw at it. But for finer work, I prefer my Bernina--probably because it has more stitch selections, sews a straighter stitch, and I know it better. If you aren't able to have the machine demonstrated to you and you can test it to your satisfaction, I'd be reluctant (Actually, that goes for any used machine, not just Nelco!) The following may be helpful: Jan 25, 2017|. Before we can help, we need to know the model. Perhaps this will be helpful: FWIW, I have an old Nelco J-28 that was passed on to me by someone who started quilting with it and advanced on to a career making wonderful creatively designed scenic quilts. It is a basic machine with straight stitch and a few zig-zag stitches. It's a tough metal mechanical machine and has been used to repair horse equipment (fly masks, etc.) and upholstery. The only thing that is perplexing to me is that it is a left needle position machine, ie the bobbin loads on the left side, the needle faces the left side, and the needle home position is on the left side and swings from the left to the right. All my other machines are center needle position so it takes some adjustment whenever switching to the Nelco--but that is a personal thing and in no way reflects on the machine and its usability. The good thing--since it is a mechanical machine, it can be maintained with frequent oiling using fresh good quality sewing machine oil and regular cleaning. The best advice ever provided--Always Raise the presser foot when threading the upper thread and make sure the machine is threaded correctly. Night at the museum 4 trailer. Jan 03, 2017|.
